Assalamu alaikum, [as RECIEVED]

By the time you read this email, I’m probably just about settled in Muzdalifa.

Wanted to share a weird story, but first – Eid Mubarak! You’ll find a “Sunnah of Eid” infograph at the end of this email.

So it’s around 2002 when this happened.

There was this guy who had the most inconvenient FEAR. I mean, of ALL of the fears you could have at HAJJ, this one was unexpected.

Shaving your head.

And it was a legit fear. He had anxiety over it.

As you know that’s what a Hajji oughta do on the day of Eid: throw jamarat, sacrifice animal, shave head.

He decided to stick with a trim (I mean you’re allowed to do that, but it’s not the best).

The next day in Mina, he was the only one who a head full of hair among all these bald Hajjis. So he felt in heart that look, I love this and I wanna do it – so today is the day I face my fears.

With beard razor in hand (not the best for shaving your head), he marched to the Mina bathroom sink.

He leaned over the sink, raised his trembling hand over his head…

Ok, pause.

This is the weird part.

It just so happened on this particular year, that on my list of “Things I Want to Experience at Hajj” – I actually wrote…

I want to shave someone’s head.

For some reason, I didn’t get to do it the day before – the day everyone shaves their head. I was pretty bummed out about missing that chance.

So that day in Mina, in that moment, Allah willed for me to go to the bathroom.

I walked in at exactly that moment.

I saw him hesitating, struggling with a beard razor.

So I stepped closer and asked…

Brother, would you like me to shave your head.

Man, his reaction was priceless. It was like a ton of weight lifted off his back.

He told me his story that up until that point he kept repeating…

I know Allah is going to make this easy on me.
I know Allah is going to make this easy on me.

“And that’s when you walked in…”

Kafayat, whatever your fears, whatever your dreams…

…they could be quirky or they could be out of this world.

Allah will make it easy for you.

Now, go celebrate your day of Eid.

Allahu Akbar
Allahu Akbar
Allahu Akbar
La ilah illa Allah.

With best wishes to see you succeed at the highest level.
